Who is this course for?
Our PPE Inspector Course has been developed for individuals who are responsible for carrying out thorough inspections of personal protective equipment (PPE) used for work at height, ropes courses, climbing, rescue, arboriculture and the outdoor adventure industry.
Whether you are an employer, site manager, ropes course operator, instructor or technician, this course provides the knowledge and practical skills required to carry out systematic PPE inspections as a 'Competent Person' in accordance with current UK legislation, British Standards and industry guidance.
A competent person should have enough appropriate theoretical and practical knowledge and experience of PPE, so they can carry out a thorough systematic and detailed inspection to detect defects or weaknesses that are or might become dangerous and assess how important they are in relation to the safety and continued use of the equipment.

What to Expect
The training course provides both theoretical and practical sessions to give candidates the knowledge and experience in the inspection of PPE as a competent person. The contents of the training course includes the following topics;
- Laws, Regulations and Standards.
- National Governing Body requirements and approved industry codes of practice.
- Selection of use of equipment.
- Categories of PPE (Simple, Intermediate, Complete).
- CE and UKCA Markings.
- Notified Bodies and Approved Bodies.
- PPE Management Systems.
- Inspection of PPE items such as; harnesses, helmets, connectors, descenders, ropes, belay devices, etc.
- Failure Criteria.
- Demonstration of Destructive Testing using our Test Rigg to show the failure point of items.
- Storage, maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
- Recording of Inspections.
The course will include hands on inspections of a variety of equipment available on the market.
The assessment process includes a theoretical question paper and a practical assessment.

General Requirements
- Minimum age: 18 years old
- Experience in the use of a range of pieces of PPE and Fall Protection Equipment
- For a refresher you must have attended a minimum of a 3 day PPE course and provide certificate or details of the course.
